The Newtown Farmers Market is an extension of The Newtown Nation created to educate the community on healthy eating habits and to provide healthy fruits and vegetables to the people at an affordable price with incentives.

Since the inception of the farmers market. We have teamed up with SNAP to not only accept EBT for the purchasing a fresh produce, but to also promote the Florida grown concept that allows us to give any person using EBT two for the price of one on any Florida grown produce, while truly helping our Florida farmers, our community and our economy!

Big Mama’s Collard Greens Fest Saturday, October 16, 2021 Noon – 6 p.m. Robert L. Taylor Community Complex 1845 John Rivers Street (34th Street)

The Big Mama’s Collard Green Festival was founded in 2016, in order to get the people of Newtown to come out and showcase their cooking skills, along with a little friendly competition with first, second, and third place cash prizes for the best collard green dish.

We have teamed up with students from the Ringling College of The Arts to help out with this event, we will have live entertainment, along with other small businesses and vendors from the area that also come out to sell their products and services.

2020 was a dormant year for the Big Mama’s Collard Green Festival due to Covid-19. We were unable to have our biggest event of the year. This year we’re back into full swing and pushing for a greater turnout than the previous years. We are also modifying a few things to follow social distancing regulation.

Currently we have about 12 vendors already committed to Big Mama’s Collard Festival and we expect to more than triple that number by October.

It would be greatly appreciated for any assistance we can obtain from small local businesses and others who are willing to either donate their resources, funds, or time to our cause & help make this a greater event that brings more people out .

Below is a list of the different sponsorship levels and prices for those levels that businesses can utilize to help us push forth and ensure the success of this event.

Your sponsorship and/or participation will help assure the success of our event in addition to keeping our Farmer’s Market open to provide fresh produce to our residents on a weekly basis. Enclosed please find more information on this exciting event and its sponsorship levels. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns. We look forward to speaking with you at your earliest convenience.
